Empowering Volunteers (w/ Mary Ann Sibley & Joseph Bennett) – Episode 283

95Network teammates Mary Ann Sibley and Joseph Bennett visit with Dale today to discuss best practices for creating a thriving and healthy volunteer culture. Joseph serves as the Executive Pastor at Foothills Church. They recently had Mary Ann do training with their volunteers. The results of her leadership have been really encouraging.

You’ll hear from both Mary Ann and Joseph that the heartbeat of volunteer training is simply discipling people to be the hands and feet of Jesus no matter where they are serving.

Key Takeaways

1) Leaders can create a lot of margin in their personal lives by simply identifying a few teachable people within the congregation and empowering them to lead.

2) The people a first-time visitor meets on their way into your service will usually “set the tone” for whether the first-timer comes in relaxed or resistant.

3) At the end of the day, there aren’t any volunteers in your ministry. Each of them is a saint with a gift to be developed and used for His glory.

4) It’s super important that pastors and ministry leaders reduce the number of ministries within the church to create a healthy margin for the volunteers and staff.
