As one of the members of the popular contemporary Christian group 4Him, Mark Harris has shared God’s word through music to millions of people for over 35 years. After wrapping up his days on tour, he began working as a worship pastor which eventually led him to Southlake, Texas to join the team at Gateway Church.
Today, he’s sharing some of his thoughts with us on how church worship has changed over the past couple of years and why he thinks being receptive to those changes is the key to success. He’ll also touch on how to equip and disciple your worship pastors and what the younger generation is looking for these days.

Key Takeaways
1) Even though everything seems uncertain, the hope of the Gospel is the same. As the pandemic has stretched on, we have to admit that pastors are weary, sad, and even anxious. It’s a crucial time for pastors to find a way to refuel, reset, and be encouraged.
2) As we move forward, change is necessary. Whether we want it or not, we’re being given a new toolbox with new tools. Now we have to be willing to learn how to use them.
3) It’s not only important, but it’s also necessary to equip our pastors. To have a successful ministry, we’ve got to start training and equipping those coming behind us. Equipping involves creating margin to spend time together, being open to questions, setting expectations, and providing accountability and encouragement.
4) The next generation is hungry for authenticity and genuineness. Younger folks aren’t impressed with the glitz and glamor anymore. They yearn for something that’s imperfect and real.
